So after the disaster of the first piece exploding

So after the disaster of the first piece exploding on the lathe and smashing the wall (see earlier post) I started over with a nice piece of wild cherry. A little touch of 3d printing on the back and a makers mark finishes it off nicely.
Massive shout out to Martin @chopsdesigns for sending me the perfect acrylic disc within ten mins of me messaging him arrived the next day. Excellent service and excellent products watch this space for more to come.

Started a commission piece last week, then disaste

Started a commission piece last week, then disaster struck. Spinning at 1800rpm this piece of oak 12”x3” decided to split and made a hell of a bang. I’m glad I had dark trousers on 😂 it certainly got the heart pounding. Looking at the last pic it shows the damage it made when it hit the wall I’m not sure any kind of PPE would’ve stopped that.

Good news and bad news - good news is the bad news

Good news and bad news - good news is the bad news ain’t that bad.

After running a 15 hour print job on my glubot holder it failed during the last bit. I thought it was doomed until a friend who is also a GP I work with who happens to be a 3d printing genius told me how to reprint the final layers separately.
Fast forward an hour and the final section is printed and using @o3adhesives glued together. It’s not perfect but it’s a workshop organiser I could fill the gaps but I know I won’t.

Thanks @drdamianwilliams everyday is a learning experience.
